Our production plant was, initially, set up in an isolated field outside the industrial city of Kolin, just north-east of Prague. But as Kolin grew the plant found itself, no longer in isolation, but part of the city.
It is no secret that cyanide chemicals are highly toxic and can pose a potential threat to any nearby residential area. Yet, it was this very threat that compelled Draslovka to implement the strictest and most up-to-date safety measures, in line with European regulations and international standards, to ensure the safety of both its employees and the residents of Kolin. These measures are applied throughout the processes of handling raw materials, production, storage of chemical products and transportation.
Draslovka Holding a.s. is a member of Mutual Aid Scheme and TRINS integrating emergency systems, holding a certification under the ISO 14001 standard and the International Cyanide Management Code. In addition, we were presented with the Responsible Care Award by the European Chemical Industry Council. Moreover, we work, closely, with our customers and partners to help them improve their own safety measures and systems in the handling of our products.
Flexibility and creativity: nothing too big or too small.
The magic of bringing an idea to life has always entranced us, and it is the challenge and process of moving a molecule from the laboratory to mass production that continues to drive our business. To some, certain projects might seem too small or too complicated to deal with. Not so with us.
Thanks to internal sources of highly purified liquid hydrogen cyanide (HCN) , cyanogen chlorine (ClCN) and ethanedinitrile (C2N2), we are able to synthesize a large variety of chemical specialities, using straightforward and simple production methods. This gives us a unique position in CN- and CN+ based synthesis and the manufacture of its downstream products. Moreover, being a private company allows us to act swiftly when answering our customers' requirements.
If you would like to learn more about the chemical groups we work with and the products we can produce, please go to our Chemical Specialities subpage.
Draslovka has more than 100 years of experience in hydrogen cyanide (HCN) production and HCN chemistry. We produce fully synthetic and highly purified liquid HCN, which undergoes further processing for application in downstream products. This is all done in state-of-the-art production facilities under the strictest safety standards.
In addition, all of our manufacturing processes are certified under the ISO 9001 standard with a portion of these also certified under the HACCP system (an international food and food additives production standard). This certification is granted by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance and is reissued every year following an audit. We are open to inspections by our customers, as well, who regularly audit our facilities themselves.
Our production and technological processes enable us to produce wide range of products and, if you would like to know more about them, please visit our Production Portfolio.

From research and development to industrial production.
We have more than 22 in-house research and development specialists whose work, primarily, focuses on the the field of CN- and CN+ chemistry, an area in which we have more than a century of experience and know-how. It is quite common for customers to approach us with a molecule, on paper, that they would like synthesised. We welcome such projects, because we are well-equipped for them, at both the laboratory and production (both pilot and industrial) levels.
If you are interested to learn more about our research and technical capabilities and what syntheses we typically perform, please consult our Chemical Specialities subpage.
Although we straddle the border between medium and large enterprise, our reach in supplying our clients' extends on a global scale. Despite our relatively small size, compared to some other chemical brands, Draslovka Holding a.s. stands as a worldwide leader in certain product areas. For example, in the case of Diphenylguanidine (DPG), a vulcanization agent for tyre and rubber manufacturing, we supply more than 40% of EU demand and 15% of world demand. Another prime example is the fumigant and specialty gas EDN, of which Draslovka Holding a.s. is currently the only industrial producer in the world. Besides these, we have a number of new projects in the pipeline that are expected to make a significant impact on the global market. In recognition of our long-standing contributions to work in the alkali cyanides sector, Draslovka Holding a.s. holds a vice-chairmanship position in the Cefic Cyanide Sector group, which is the global ruling authority on the production and use of alkali cyanides.
Draslovka Holding a.s. is the sole shareholder of the Draslovka group and is incorporated in The Netherlands. The owners of Draslovka Holding a.s. are four closely cooperating families. We value the trust of our partners and strive for transparency and openness with our stakeholders. Our company is audited by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, annualy, the results of which are available to the public. As a strategic domestic manufacturer, we have a very open relationship with both governmental and non-governmental organizations, in the Czech Republic. To enhance the trust of public and state safety organizations and as a demonstration of confidence in our internal safety mechanisms, we have developed a unique system that allows these organizations to access our safety and monitoring system, at any point in time. In addition, we are subject to approximately 40-50 audits and controls per year, which include those by governmental & non-governmental customers.
